
Oh My Gosh! At first sight I was frightened and thought global warning is resulting in yield of weird sea monsters and my death is near!
However, when I read and took a look further on the issue, I had a sigh of relief and recognized that this is a natural wonder. Conservation Department community relations programme manager Stacy Moore revealed that these are called goose barnacles (Lepas anatifera) fixed to either a piece of wood or rope.
The sight has horror-stricken many beach goers at Waikanae. Each goose barnacle measures around thirty centimeters.
