If you want a pass in gym, well, you have to be nude. Yes, you read it right. A gym in Dutch has passed out this unusual way of entering into its premises.

On Sunday March 4, 2007, Dutch gym took its first nude workout session in Heteren (60 miles east of Amsterdam), eastern Netherlands. Many middle-age and elderly men enjoyed this invitation to workout nude at gym.

Fitworld owner Patrick de Man allowed the media in for the first session of “Naked Sunday.”

Ron van der Putten, a customer, said that he feel more free to workout without clothes.

For utter surprise there was no female to walk-into this ‘Naked Sunday.’

A young man from central China’s Henan province has asked his barber to cut his hair into the shape of eight Chinese characters, which literally means “Celebrate 10th Anniversary of Hong Kong’s Return” in English.

The resident of Kaifeng city believes the hairstyle expresses his excitement about the 10th anniversary this Sunday (July 11) since Hong Kong was returned to China from British administration.

According to me, fashion is really unpredictable. When it comes to crazy hats or weird lower outfits then we could resist it. But when I saw this I was little bit horror-struck. “Breast at its peak” as I would refer it. 34-yr-old Ben Shire from Horsham, Sussex, was making a cup of tea to keep himself awake when a massive yawn took hold. Within second, his jaw got dislocated. He collapsed on the floor, unable to breathe or swallow.
His wife dialed 999 as he lay on the floor choking on his saliva. Paramedics rushed Shire to hospital, with his jaw still locked, where medics resuscitated him using a suction device.
It then took doctors 4 hours to reset his jaw.
“We can laugh about it now, but it wasn’t funny at the time,” the store worker said.
“I couldn’t breathe because I was choking – it felt link two fingers down my throat. The more I panicked, the more I struggled for breathe.” His wife Sam, a hotel cleaner, said. “I was really panicking and didn’t know what to do.”
Cases of jaws locking open mid-yawn are very rare. Doctors advise people who do experience to bend forward or lie on their side recovery position to let gravity ease the pressure.
People with lock jaws can feel like they are choking because of the build-up of saliva in their mouths.

Inventor Elwood “Woody” Norris has developed a technology called Hypersonic Sound (HSS), which can direct sound waves in a precise, laser-like beam for almost 150 meters. The result: You can be listening to music coming from across the room, but a friend standing next to you can’t hear a thing. Move a few steps outside the beam’s path, and you can’t hear a thing either.
HSS works by generating inaudible high-frequency waves that, unlike low frequency waves, don’t spread out as they travel through the air, but instead stay focused like a laser. Once this column of ultrasound reaches an object (like your head) it re-creates the original sound. Just imagine, such technology could allow ambulances to clear traffic from the streets without waking the neighbors.

A Dutch scientist thinks he has discovered a new species of wild pig nearly twice the size of other pigs in Brazil’s Amazon region.

At four feet long ad 90 pounds, the pig is the latest in a string of new species that Marc van Roosmalen reported to have found since 1996. His findings were published in the Oct. 29 edition of the Germen scientific journal Bonner Zoologische Beitrage.

Van Roosmalen, said his discovery of the peccary – a kind of wild pig he dubbed Pecari maximus – points out the need to protect the region as a habitat for wild species.

Scientists have been astounded by the creation of a genetically modified “supermouse” with extraordinary physical abilities – comparable to the performance of the very best athletes – raising the prospect that the discovery may one day be used to transform people’s capacities.
The mouse can run up to six kilometers (3.7 miles) at a speed of 20 meters per minute for five hours or more without stopping. Scientists said that this was equivalent of a man cycling at speed up an Alpine mountain without a break. Although it eats up to 60 percent more food than an ordinary mouse, the modified mouse does not put on weight, It also lives longer and enjoys an active sex life well into old age – being capable of breeding as three times the normal maximum age.
Professor Hanson, who led the 15-strong team of researchers, said that the first supermouse was created about four years ago by injecting a highly active form of a gene for an enzyme called phosphonenolpyruvate carboxykinase (PEPCK_C) into a mouse embryo. The results of studies on the mice are published for the first time in the Journal of Biological Chemistry earlier this month.

An Australian company has directed its multicultural work office to speak only English or sacrifice a pay rise.
The Australian company Cochlear, famous for hearing aids, has threatened to deny pay rises to staff who speak foreign languages at the workplace, despite the fact that more than half of its workers hail from non-English speaking countries.
Huy Kha, a worker from Cambodia, alleges in his complaint – to be lodged today with the NSW’s anti-discrimination board that in June his manager ordered him to “speak English at al times”
“The team leader said if we are found speaking a foreign language, we will fail our assessment to get a higher classification,” he wrote.
The Age quoted Cochlear’s Chief executive Chris Roberts as saying he was unaware of Kha’s complaint but that the company had “a policy of mutual respect in the workplace. So, there is a bunch of people in a group, they should not speak a language that cuts others out.”

A boy playing with matches has confessed to starting a wildfire that destroyed 63 structures near Los Angeles, officials said. The unidentified youngster, believed to be a pre-teen, was questioned by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department investigators on October 22, a day after the Buckweed fire started rampaging across 38,000 acres (15,000 hectares) in the Santa Clarita area, 50 km north of downtown Los Angeles.

The boy “admitted that he had been playing with matches” said sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore yesterday.

The Buckweed fire was one of about 24 conflagrations that ravaged sothern California last week.

World’s oldest animal found

British scientists have found a 400-yr old clam, the world’s longest-living animal, off the coast of Iceland, which may reveal the secret of longevity.

The scientists say the discovery of the quahog clam, a bivalve millusc, aged between 405 and 410 years old, might allow them to get a better understanding of the ageing process, as well as revealing the secrets of a long life.

The creature was nicknamed Ming, after the dynasty which ruled China at the beginning of the life.

“When the animal was a juvenile, King James 1 replaced Queen Elizabeth 1 as English monarch. Shakespeare was writing his plays – Hamlet, Othello, King Lear and Macbeth – and Giordano Bruno was burnt at the stake for espousing the view that the sun rather then the earth was the centre of the universe,” Bangor University said in a release.

The scientists calculated the age of the animal by counting the annual growth rings on the shell, a technology similar to that of estimating a tree’s age.

Argentine and Brazilian paleontologists claim to have found a giant plant-eating dinosaur, Futalognkosaurus dukei, that roamed the earth some 80 million years ago. The dinosaur measured at least 32 m (105 ft), making it one of the tallest dinosaurs ever found, said Jorge Calvo, director of the paleontology centre at the National University of Comahue, Argentina.

“This is one of the biggest (dinosaurs) in the world and one of the most complete of these that exist,” he said.

Its name (pronounced foo-ta-long-koh-sohr-us) is derived from the Mapuche Indian words for “giant chief of the lizards” and from Duke Energy Argentina, a company which helped fund the excavation.

Scientists believe the skeleton discovered in Patagonia represents a previously unknown species because of the unique structure of its neck.

Calvo said the dinosaur’s remains possibly washed into river, creating a barrier that collected remains of other nowfossillised animals, fish and even leaves found at the site.

Since the first bones were found on the banks of Lake Barreales in Neuquen, Argentina in 2000, paleontologists have dug up the dinosaur’s neck, back, hips and the first vertebra of its tail.

Calvo said the skeleton also showed signs of its owner having being eaten by predators.

Alexander Kellner, a researcher with the National Museum in Rio de Janeiro, said the fossilized ecosystem pointed to a warm and humid climate in Patagonia, which had forests during the late Cretaceous period. The area is steppe-like now and almost bare of vegetation.

“It’s among the biggest dinosaur finds and the most complete for a giant dinosaur finds and the most complete for a giant dinosaur. The accumulation of fish and leaf fossils, as well as other dinosaurs around the find, is just something fantastic. Leaves and dinosaurs together is a great rarity. Its like a whole lost world for us,” said Kellner.

The study appears in the journal Annals of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences, reports the BBC.

If the accuracy of 1900 is a guide, researchers in Britain may be right this time. They have predicted that the human race may be split into two different species in 100,000 years' time - an attractive, intelligent ruling elite and an underclass of dim-witted, ugly goblin-like creatures.
"The human race would reach its physical peak by the year 3000. People would become choosier about their sexual partners, causing humanity to divide into sub-species. The descendants of the genetic upper class will be tall, slim, healthy and attractive from the underclass humans.
"But in the near future, humans will evolve in 1,000 years into giants between 6ft and 7ft tall while life-spans will have extended t0 120 years. "Men will have symmetrical facial features, deeper voices and bigger penises. Women will all have glossy hairs, smooth hairless skin, large eyes and pert breasts." according to lead researcher Oliver Curry of London School of Economics.
Curry has also said that 10,000 years later reliance on technology will have begun to dramatically change the appearance of the human race.

When both eggs are fertilised, the resulting siblings are fraternal twins. Because this gene can be passed on, the tendency to have fraternal twins can in fact run in families. Identical twins, on the other hand, result from one fertilised egg randomly splitting in two, creating two siblings with identical DNA. The notion that twins always skip a generation is also a myth.

Crocodiles Actually Weep

A new study has authenticated the phrase “crocodile tears” by discovering that crocodiles really do weep while eating but it is purely physiological reasons that makes them bawl.

A researcher of university of Florida observed and videotaped four confined caimans and three alligators, both close relatives of the crocodile, while eating on a spit of dry land at Florida’s St Augustine Alligator Farm Zoological Park.

Zoologist Kent Vliet found that five of the seven animals bawled as they tore into their food, with some of their eyes even frothing and bubbling.

However, Vilet said that the causes of the tears remain a bit of mystery.

He believes they may occur as a result of the animals hissing and huffing, a behaviour that often accompanies feeding.

Air forced through the sinuses may mix with tears in the crocodiles’lacrimal, or tear, glands emptying into the eye. The study is published in the latest edition of the journal BioScience.

Suicide committed by an Indian couple from Hyderabad was talked all around the world. There are countless people committing suicide everyday but the suicide of this couple is a stormy topic as they hanged themselves over the death of their pooch.

C.N. Madanraj a retired soldier aged 67 and his wife, Tarabai, 63, had described their mental anguish and pain over their pet’s death in the suicide note.

Madanraj’s nephew described the couple’s sorrow as:

They were so aghast and saddened by the loss of their companion that they performed a formal funeral. They wrapped its body in cloth and buried it in the backyard of their home.”

The childless couple had made proper arrangements for their funeral too by leaving about $50 to pay for it.

I am confused whether I should mock at their weak attitude or solemnize over their weird reason for suicide.

Oh My Gosh! At first sight I was frightened and thought global warning is resulting in yield of weird sea monsters and my death is near!

However, when I read and took a look further on the issue, I had a sigh of relief and recognized that this is a natural wonder. Conservation Department community relations programme manager Stacy Moore revealed that these are called goose barnacles (Lepas anatifera) fixed to either a piece of wood or rope.

The sight has horror-stricken many beach goers at Waikanae. Each goose barnacle measures around thirty centimeters.
